Life is meaningless.
Parenthood, working, marriage, striving for something…all meaningless.
Yet, we find glory and honor in our day to day task.
Sacrificing your time and energy into raising a child feels rewarding.
Spending time with your spouse and doing life together, growing old and weathering through the storms feels meaningful.
Solving problems at work and contributing to society feels impactful.
When our sports team wins, when our child does something we’re proud of, when an addict is sober, when we see others put themselves in the background to honor others, we see the glory of life.
Yet, in those moments, we don’t always see that until we reflect back on it all.
I get disheartened when I hear stories of men who give up everything for a fling. Or even more brutal, a mother and father who can’t stand their child so they neglect even the basic neccessities of childhood nurture.
I cannot help but look to a God who looked at the sins of mankind and still decided to love despite the absolute heartache He feels when He sees His children disregard the glory of life.
A godless nation, a godless people, will in fact disregard sacrifice, love, and glory for the sake of their temporary happiness.
Their hearts are set on their own selfish needs, allowing the pride of their heart to tell them that they deserve more.
I understand now the Biblical saying that “dying to oneself” is when we are given life.
When we sacrifice for others, our time, money, and energy, we see the glory of life, and we end up living.
Those who live for purely themselves, lose out on true happiness because they cannot help but want more.
