Does anyone else use AI at their job?

In less than a year, my career has evolved from intense thinking and problem solving to babysitting a Claude agent editing my code.

I used to think about how to solve a problem. If that problem wasn’t fully solved by the end of the workday, I’d think about it at night. I’d even work the weekends trying to solve it. To me, it was fun.

However, as fun as it was, it was detrimental to my “work-life” balance. I would be in my head too often and couldn’t give enough attention to my wife.

We’d get into arguments because I didn’t “respond” enough to her, even though I was just deep into my thoughts about how to solve certain problems.

With AI, I don’t really need to do this anymore. My critical thinking and creative problem solving are outsourced to Claude agents. My skill is now asking questions and being skeptical of what Claude does in my code.

In a lot of ways, I’d say AI has been a blessing to my career. But in the ways I think that count, like thinking critically, I’m not doing well in that area.
